Why your donation matters

Making a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce is investing in the health and well-being of our growing seniors community.

  • Age is the biggest risk factor in developing dementia, with current statistics showing that 1 in 11 Canadians over the age of 65 have Alzheimer's disease or other dementia.
  • Families who are informed about the disease, treatment options, risk factors and who learn about ways to manage difficult behaviours are better able to support their loved one and provide the best quality of life possible through the course of the disease than those who try to manage without support.
  • We depend on the generosity of our donors for more than 40 per cent of our annual budget.

All donations to the Alzheimer Society Grey-Bruce stay in Grey-Bruce to provide information, education, support and counselling services to affected individuals and their families and caregivers.

You may make a general donation to our chapter, or you may direct your donation to a specific program or to research.

When a Canadian gives a gift of a security or mutual fund that’s increased in value since its purchase, they avoid the capital gains tax. This means your you benefit from a tax receipt for the full value of the security or mutual funds!

We use CanadaHelps to make it easy and seamless to make your donation. Once the transfer is complete, CanadaHelps will notify you be email and send you a tax receipt for the value of your donation. They will also disburse the funds to the charity you’ve chosen, less their low, non-commercial administration fee.
