Alzheimer Journey: Care Essentials

 

The Alzheimer Society of NB is pleased to offer Alzheimer Journey: Care Essentials! This FREE education series—available in English and French around the province—is recommended for those in the middle stage of their diagnosis, for their family members, and for their caregivers. The consecutive weeks of education will introduce families to important topics that will help guide them through the process of learning how to live with dementia.

Fall 2018 locations include:

Week 1 - What to Expect
What is dementia?, Progression: Middle Stage, Treatment and Approach to care

Week 2 - The Caregiving Journey
Caregiving challenges, Making decisions, Impact of Stress and Reducing Caregiver Stress

Week 3 -Day-to-day Care
Communication, Activities of daily living, Choosing leisure activities and Approach to Care

Week 4 - Understanding Behaviour
Challenging Behaviours, Responsive Behaviours, Intervention Strategies and Approach to Care
