Zahid Salman, Chair

Zahid Salman is an Executive Vice President at Morneau Sheppell, the largest Canadian-based HR Services company focused on delivering solutions to improve the financial security, health and productivity of client organizations and their people. A graduate of the Western University, Zahid is an actuary with over 20 years of experience in the HR consulting and outsourcing industry. He has been a speaker and author on industry issues, and has taught at the Humber College Centre for Employee Benefits. Zahid has been with the Alzheimer Society of York Region since 2010 and is also Vice-Chair of the Board of Saint Elizabeth Health Care Foundation.

Sue Noble, Vice Chair

Sue Noble joined the Alzheimer Society of York Region as a Board Member in September 2014.

Sue has over 15 years of experience in financial services, primarily in banking and insurance. Sue currently holds the position of Senior Commercial Account Manager at RBC Royal Bank, where she provides credit structure solutions and other financial solutions for small to medium sized businesses. Her primary focus is within the Supply Chain sector where she supports businesses in the manufacturing, wholesale, distribution and transportation industry sectors. Sue has a keen strategic mindset that coupled with her financial and analytical skills, enable her to provide practical and value-added advice to her clients. Prior to this role, Sue held a position in RBC Insurance, where she managed the strategic planning and product development for the company's largest product portfolio. In this role, her responsibilities included product performance and profitability, operational efficiencies, sales and distribution and client experience.

Sue hold a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Rotman School of Management as well as a Bachelor of Science from McGill University. 

Stuart Pasternak, Treasurer

Stuart Pasternak joined the Alzheimer Society of York Region as a Board Member in September 2014.

Stuart is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with over twenty-five years of business experience in North America; primarily in manufacturing and construction industries providing objective, structural and pragmatic business solutions that deliver value and sustainable business results with a focus on the customer.

Stuart has held Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Vice President-Finance, Director of Finance and Controller positions, and in 2009 started his own consulting practice focusing on small to mid-size enterprises assisting them with achieving efficiencies and growth strategies.  Stuart has been involved with strategic planning, corporate management, financial reporting, accounting, treasury & risk management, human capital and cross-border transactions.  His experience includes testifying as a financial expert at the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, defending corporations on various tax matters with Canadian Revenue Agency and the Department of Justice, negotiating with financial institutions and government agencies, business process automation, implementation of best practices and internal controls.

Stuart is a University of Toronto graduate and a member of Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO) and Financial Executive International (FEI).

Scott Crone

Scott is Vice President of Underwriting & Distribution for The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group, Ontario's largest farm mutual. Scott has accountability for risk management, business development, broker relationships, marketing and building The Commonwell's brand.

Scott started his career in the insurance industry in 1998, selling home, auto and life insurance with the Allstate Canada Group. In 2010, Scott was relocated to Bay Street and took on the role as Regional Sales Manager for Eastern Canada with DAS Legal Protection Insurance, a member of the Munich Re group of companies. 

Early in his career, after graduation from York University, Scott worked on Parliament Hill as a chief of staff to an MP.

Sheila Driscoll

Sheila joined the Alzheimer Society of York Region as a Board Member in September 2017. 

Sheila is a RN with extensive knowledge of the long-term care homes compliance and enforcement branch under the MOHLTC where she worked for over 18 years in various capacities. Predominantly she worked as the provincial LTC home consultant, developing policies to inform the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007 legislation and regulation, protocols, internal policies and procedures, communication/presentation materials, and an information repository.  She served as a manager, educator, community program supervisor and LTC home inspector and provided widespread assistance with various projects including proposal evaluations and quality management activities.  She was a member of the Coroner’s Geriatric LTC Review Committee for several years.

Sheila is a graduate from Ryerson University in the Bachelor of Health Administration and has her LTC Senior Management Certificate from the Canadian Healthcare Association and Canadian Council of Health Service Executives (CCHSE).  Her background also includes both palliative care and volunteer management.  She is currently a LTC Home Consultant with Horizon Business and Staffing Solutions and a member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.

Rachel Egan

Rachel Egan joined the Alzheimer Society of York Region as a Board Member in September 2016.

Rachel joins the board with over 18 years of consumer package goods experience in sales, marketing and organization development. Rachel held a variety of roles focused on development, efficiency and effective growth. 

Rachel is a King's College, University of Western Ontario graduate. 

Rachel resides with her husband and three children in Aurora.

Simon Francis

Simon Francis is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Partner at Fuller Landau, a mid-sized strategic accounting, tax and business advisory firm specializing in mid-market, privately held companies. As a Partner in the firm's Audit & Assurance practice, Simon works closely with entrepreneurial companies to provide assurance services, along with strategic business and tax advice.

Meghan Seybold

Meghan Seybold is the HR Business Partner, Canadian Banking Sales for Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). She provides support to the leadership team to help achieve business goals through the development, advancement and execution the HR strategic objectives and solutions. Working with the Regional President and Senior Management Team, she provides guidance on all aspects of workforce management an change including talent management, leadership development, employee development and enablement, compensation, employee relations and performance management. Prior to joining RBC, Meaghan was a memeber of the Global Executive Development and Global Organizational teams at American Express. She has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Masters of Education from the University of Toronto.

June Smyth

June joined the Alzheimer Society of York Region Board of Directors in February 2017. June is Senior Consulting Actuary and Practice Leader at Baynes & White, a boutique pension and benefits consulting firm. June has over 20 years of experience in insurance and pensions and volunteers with the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, as well as serving on the Board of the Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association. June graduated from the University of Western Ontario in Applied Mathematics. 

Shawn Turner

Shawn joined the Alzheimer Society of York Region Board of Directors in May 2011. He is a graduate in Health Services Administration, a Certified Health Executive and a member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders.

His extensive background in healthcare administration includes work in the acute, community and long term care sectors. He was the General Manager of the Long Term Care and Seniors Branch for the Region of York and in that capacity he was responsible for a range of facility and community based programs including the Regional Psychogeriatric & Mental Health Consulting Service and the Integrated Psychogeriatric Outreach Program. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Association of Homes and Services for Seniors, Chaired the Ontario Municipal Benchmarking LTC Expert Panel from 2000-2008 and was the Co-chair of the Central LHIN Community and LTC Advisory Committee from 2006-2008. He is a member of the Newmarket Museum Board and a member of the Family Selection Committee for Habitat for Humanity, York Region.

Shawn is currently a Principal & Healthcare Consultant with Envirocorp Services Inc. and an Educational Consultant with OANHSS.

Sheldon Wisener

Sheldon Wisener is a Criminal Defense Lawyer. He has been representing clients in York Region and throughout the GTA since 1992. He also practices Child Protection Law and represents children as a member of the Personal Rights Panel of the Office of the Children's Lawyer. He is a former Director of the Criminal Lawyers' Association (2007-2009), a member of the Advocates Society and is a Director of the York Region Law Association. Sheldon is a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School (1984) and McGill University (BA Honours Political Science 1981).
