Raise your mug and fundraise with Coffee Break!
Nicole first became involved with Coffee Break® after receiving an email from the Alzheimer Society of B.C. advertising the event and asking for hosts. After contacting the Society and receiving the host kit, she advertised the event to the Auburn Retirement Residence in their monthly calendars and with posters on each floor of their building.
Nicole says her Coffee Break® event lasts for an hour to an hour and a half, and as well as sharing coffee and snacks, they use the opportunity to spread awareness and education about dementia by sharing facts and trivia about the disease. She says it’s a great opportunity for attendees to share their experiences, “My favorite part of hosting is hearing the stories from our residents of how Alzheimer’s has affected their lives or that of their loved ones.”
When you host a Coffee Break® in your community, you help raise much needed funds for research into the causes and cure for dementia, and support local programs and services to help people living with dementia and their caregivers live well with the disease.
The Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s ultimate vision is a world without dementia – but before there’s a cure, there’s care. While the search for a cure continues, we can ignite a movement to make dementia not just someone else’s problem, but everyone’s concern.
By hosting or joining a Coffee Break®, you will be helping us build a dementia-friendly society that is supportive of people who are affected by dementia. Register now and help us make 2017 the most robust year yet!
