Two exciting contests for all Investors Group Walk for Alzheimers participants
The Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s is less than two weeks away! If you haven’t already, it’s not too late to join us by registering and fundraising to honour those who face dementia in your community. The event, taking place on May 1 in over 23 communities across B.C., is Canada’s biggest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Your support will provide Help for Today. Hope for Tomorrow…® for the over 70,000 British Columbians who face dementia.
In order to thank our participants for their support, we currently have two exciting contests running. The first is a team contest. Any teams who fundraise over $1,000 by May 1 will be entered into a draw for a $500 Best Buy gift card. For full contest details, click here.
The second is a Grand Prize contest! Any individual who fundraises over $1,000 by May 1 will be entered into a draw to win:
- A round trip for two on Helijet between Vancouver to Victoria (generously donated by Cowell Auto Group)
- A one-night stay at the Pinnacle Hotel Vancouver Harbourfront
- Two complimentary tickets to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria
Each of the 23 Walks across the Province is dedicated to an honoree, someone who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. In Vernon, this year’s honoree is Reg Watson. Reg, who is living with dementia, enjoys participating in the Alzheimer Society of B.C. programs, including Minds in Motion®. There, he is able to share ideas and get tips from people experiencing similar challenges in addition to learning about the disease and the services available.
Reg’s daughter Cathy describes her dad as “goofy, helpful, smart, capable and cute.” She says that he has relied on his great sense of humour to help him deal with dementia. “Making sad things seem funny makes it easier for everyone around him to deal with it as well.” To read more about Reg, click here.
