The Society has been supporting family caregivers and professional caregivers throughout Elgin County by providing a range of services designed to meet the needs of our communities. Recently, we launched the First Link Program which is an innovative program that enables primary care providers to work together to provide the best care possible for people with dementia. The program's aim is to support persons with dementia, with or without a diagnosis, and link them with support services earlier in the disease.
In addition the Alzheimer Society Elgin-St. Thomas offers a number of educational services to health care professionals so that they have the latest tools and strategies to provide person-centred care to individuals with dementia. We are also very engaged in increasing awareness through public education by providing information to community groups, service clubs, high schools, public schools and libraries. Please call the office to arrange for a speaker at your event.
The Alzheimer Society Elgin-St.Thomas can help you by providing information, resources, education and support.
