We provide continuous opportunities for education and awareness raising within the Niagara Region, and upon special request outside the region. All education is free to persons with dementia, caregivers and families.
Education for Family and Friends
|Next Steps & Care Essentials
A 4 week series offered monthly in various cities throughout the Niagara Region, as well as online, to help care partners learn more about dementia, develop caregiving strategies, and become familiar with community resources and supports.
|Other Education for Caregivers
Options for Care explores the care options that support persons living with dementia in the moderate to late stages of their journey. LTC Transition & Self-Health is designed for care partners with a family member who has recently moved to long-term care.
Staying Connected provides care partners a bi-monthly opportunity to connect through workshops, guest speakers and special events.
These free community based education sessions are held at various times throughout the year.
Education for Individuals with Dementia and Care Partners
This introductory 2.5 hour session will help participants get to know their local Alzheimer Society and how we can help, as well as learn about normal aging and healthy brain strategies.
|Beyond Words Learning Series
An eight week learning series for . Educational content is linked specifically to the group’s experiences and open dialogue and communication is encouraged.
Education for Health Care Professionals
Our Psychogeriatric Resource Consultants provide education to professionals working in Long-Term Care settings, while our Education department provides education to Community Support Service sector professionals and students. Programs include:

- Seniors Mental Health First Aid
- Customized Presentations
Education for the Community
We provide many opportunities to learn more about dementia and related issues. We offer educational sessions available to many different groups, including service clubs, businesses, rest & retirement homes, community organizations, schools, colleges and universities. Please note we require a minimum group size of 8. We will customize our presentation based on the needs and/or interests of the group.
