What is Coffee Break?

Coffee Break is the Alzheimer Society's major nationwide annual fundraiser where friends, co-workers and customers gather in communities across Canada to raise funds for local Alzheimer Societies. Participants at these events make a donation in exchange for a cup of coffee. The money raised stays in that province or community to help support local programs and services.

Where does an Alzheimer Coffee Break take place?

Coffee Breaks can be held anywhere: offices, schools, retirement homes, businesses (local or corporate), community centers or in your living room – wherever coffee can be served and a donation collected! You can organize an event -- large or small in your community, workplace or home.

When does it take place?

The 24th annual Alzheimer Coffee Break kicks off on Thursday, September 19, 2019 and continues throughout the month and into October. The kick off event is known as the Alzheimer Society's Signature Event. Some hosts will host their Coffee Break before the kick off date, and that is fine too!

How do I host a Coffee Break?

You can make your event big or small, public or private, at home, at work or in the community and offer coffee in exchange for a donation. You can also offer tea and juice, or raise more funds by adding cookies or pastries. It’s your coffee break, your way – be creative and have fun! To get started, contact your local office (709-576-0608 or [email protected]) to register and receive a host package.

Why should I host an Alzheimer Coffee Break?

When you host a Coffee Break in your community, you help raise much-needed funds for local programs and services for people with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers. Your support makes a huge difference in their lives.

How much money is raised?

This depends on the hosts and their commitment. Each year the total varies. In the past, thanks to our generous sponsors and participants, Coffee Break has raised over $1 million every year in support of essential programs and services for people living with dementia, their caregivers and family. These programs make all the difference in the way families are able to live with the disease. Funds raised in each province, will stay within that province to support the local programs and services.

How can my retail business take part?

forget-me-not.jpgIt’s simple – ask for a Forget me not cut-out kit when you register.

This complimentary kit includes Coffee Break® cut-outs to help raise funds and awareness. Just add the cut-out UPC code to your inventory, and invite your customers to add a donation to their purchase. Your customers can personalize their cut-out, and you may choose to display them in your store, which raises even more awareness! After the month is over, tally up your total and send your donation in.

Can my organization become a corporate sponsor or host?
