Let’s Applaud our Volunteers

A well known saying to describe achieving something monumental is ‘it takes a village’ and at the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, that saying is more apt than ever! As we transition into a new way of working in response to the effects of COVID-19, we recognize more than ever that our village – a village made up folks with dementia and their friends and families, skilled staff, partners, donors, and supporters – is also home to many, MANY volunteers! There’s no better time than National Volunteer Week to applaud the impact our incredibly dedicated volunteer team has on our work.

Making connections matter is more important than ever in these difficult times and there is one group of volunteers who continually go above and beyond in this respect – our Board of Directors! Our volunteer board is 15-strong and we are lucky to count among our ranks doctors, lawyers, HR specialists, business leaders, and accountants. The one thing they all share is a deep and personal connection to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias – a passion and drive that sees them giving up their time to tirelessly to support our communities and clients as shown below.

Volunteers are critically important to our sector and especially important to ASNS. On National Volunteer Week, please join us in applauding our amazing volunteer Board of Directors!

Thank you, sincerely, for all that you do.

John Britton,
CEO, Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia
