The Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County strives to educate the public on issues related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The Society does this in part, through health fairs and public speaking engagements. Volunteers assist the Education Coordinators in the following areas:
“The Gift of the Gab” will help you as a volunteer at a Health Fair. Here, you will provide basic information about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, direct people to appropriate community supports and promote the programs, services and current activities of the Society to those attending the Health Fair in your community.
This is a chance to provide information to your community and to learn about how other agencies also help the community. Most Health Fairs are held during weekdays and occasionally on weekends.
A shift at a Health Fair varies from 2 to 4 hours depending on the Health Fair and the availability of other volunteers in your community.
Training and ongoing support are provided, and usually, you work with a partner.
Public Speaking- Speakers Bureau

Many presentation are made during the day, some in the evenings. All presentations are in your general community. Group sizes vary from 5 to 300, depending upon your comfort level.
Lengths of presentations vary from 20 minutes to 1 hour and are based upon the needs of the community group. Training and ongoing support are provided.
