Next Steps: understanding and supporting a person living with dementia

Now that your family member or friend has received a diagnosis or is in the process of getting a diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease or other dementia, what are your Next Steps?  This course provides you with an overview of dementia and community supports to help you understand what is happening and provide you with knowledge to help you as you move forward.  Topics covered in Next Steps include:

  • Understanding dementia (types of dementia, symptoms)
  • Connecting changes in the brain to symptoms
  • Planning for the future
  • Managing risk
  • Coping strategies
  • Community supports

Please note, Next Steps is designed for family and friends of a person living with dementia and is not suitable for professional caregivers.
