The Alzheimer Society provides many educational opportunities for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, caregivers, and health-care professionals.



GPA is a practical evidence-based dementia education curriculum. It teaches care providers across disciplines how to use a person-centred, respectful, compassionate and gentle persuasive approach to respond to the behaviours associated with dementia. Everything participants learn at a GPA Basics education session is immediately useful.

GPA Basics Education is a full-day (7.5-hour) education session led by GPA Certified Coaches and designed to address individual learning styles via a motivating mix of experiential exercises, video clips, whiteboard animation, mini lectures, role play and discussion.

Living The Dementia Journey

LIVING the Dementia Journey is for everyone – staff or team members across the continuum of care, persons living with dementia, and family care partners. To help create a shared understanding and philosophy of dementia care that builds awareness, understanding, and compassion.

The LIVING the Dementia Journey curriculum uses presentations, individual reflections, small and large group discussions, and experiential learning formats to meet the needs of adult learners.

The Participant Education Program consists of one 6.5-hour overview workshop.

Plus 6 additional modules designed for staff, persons living with dementia, and care partners across the continuum of care. Each module includes 2-3 hours of content, interactive exercises and a workbook for each learner.

Participants can choose 1 day overview workshop with certificate OR 2 days in depth workshop with certificate.
