The Alzheimer Society Peel exists to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias; to help find the cause, prevention, and cure.

POSITION PURPOSE: We are currently searching for dynamic, caring and fun individuals to assist with providing activities, support and care to the cognitively impaired at our Day Programs.

Location: We are recruiting for positions in Brampton and Mississauga. Due to Covid-19, all our offices and in-service support are limited to protect the health and safety of our employees, clients and community.

Hours: 35 hours per week

Interview: Our recruitment process will be completed with video conference technology.

Due to COVID-19, at this time our in person supports are limited. Staff that are hired may intermittently be required to work from home providing virtual support to Care Partners and create and implement virtual programs for those that are cognitively impaired.

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic activities for clients

Key Accountabilities Working on Site

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic activities for clients
  • Prepare, set up, and clean-up of meals and snacks
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
  • Ongoing client assessments
  • Monitors the safety and wellbeing of all clients in the program
  • Prepares, reviews and communicates individual care plans for assigned clients. Conducts regular reviews of individual care plans to ensure it is current and up to date.
  • Actively participates in the health and wellness programs of ASP and enforces safety rules and regulations.
  • Responsible for completing regular documentation on clients’ activities, progress, changes and concerns.
  • Train new hires and staff on policies, virtual programing and other responsibilities as required
  • Assist clients with personal care and needs
  • Documentation

What you Bring

  • Degree or Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation, Activation, Social Services, Gerontology, or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience working with individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease or a related dementia
  • Experience providing personal care
  • Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating activities
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Certified in First Aid/CPR
  • Team Oriented
  • Adult Day Program Experience
  • Skills in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office and database experience.
  • Access to a reliable computer, internet, and phone
  • Additional languages an asset
