Effect of a continuing education course about dementia on rehabilitation professionals' knowledge, attitudes, and confidence
What is this Study about?
Care Approaches in Rehabilitation for Effective Support for Dementia (CARES-D) is a post-graduate course designed to address the education gap in working with people living with dementia. This study examines its effect on rehabilitation professionals' knowledge, attitudes, and confidence in dementia.
Participants will complete CARES-D along with pre-and post-course questionnaires. The data will be analyzed for changes in knowledge, attitudes, and confidence, and feedback will be summarized using inductive thematic analysis.
What Will Happen in This Study?
During the course, you will review materials, complete knowledge checks, use the workbook, and submit a completion survey. You will also complete four online questionnaires before and three after the course, taking about one hour in total. These questionnaires will collect information on your demographics, knowledge, attitudes, and confidence in dementia.
The total estimated time for participation is seven and a half hours.
Who is Eligible to Participate in this Study?
- Are a practicing physiotherapist, occupational therapist, physiotherapy assistant, occupational therapy assistant or kinesiologist with a minimum of 6 months of experience.
- Work with individuals living with dementia, regardless of the setting
- Work anywhere in Canada
- Fluent in English
