Emerging Adults' Experience of Caring for Parents with Advanced Disease: a Qualitative Study

What is this Study about?

The purpose of this study is to better understand the caregiving experience during emerging adulthood, the stage of development between adolescence and adulthood. We are interested in learning about the experience of caring for and supporting a parent diagnosed with a serious, incurable illness, and what strategies are used to manage this challenging experience during this time of life. We hope this information will provide us with a better understanding of the parental caregiving experience in emerging adulthood and give us insight into mental health strategies and policies that can help better support emerging adult caregivers.

What Will Happen in This Study?

Participants will be invited to complete a one-on-one interview lasting approximately 60 minutes. Participants will receive a $20 gift card for their time.

Who is Eligible to Participate in this Study?

You are eligible to participate if you are:

- Currently providing unpaid support to a parent living with an incurable, terminal medical condition

- 18 to 29 years old

- Fluent in English

- Living in Canada
