Exploring gaps and identifying priorities in palliative care nutrition
What is this Study about?
You are invited to participate in a research study that will help us understand the current end-of-life (i.e., last months, weeks, or days) nutrition practices in long-term care (LTC) homes. Your perspective based on your experiences working in LTC can help us to develop educational resources for team members who support residents receiving palliative care at the end of their life. We hope this education will foster positive changes in attitudes and practices.
What Will Happen in This Study?
You are invited to participate in a virtual focus group to share your experiences and perspectives on nutrition in palliative care, including challenges and strategies. The focus group will be 60 to 90 minutes in length with 4-6 participants. Focus group discussions and interviews will be digitally recorded.
We will also ask demographic questions of age, gender, ethnicity, role and time working in LTC care.
You will receive a $25 honorarium as a token of appreciation for your time spent as a participant in this study.
Who is Eligible to Participate in this Study?
Registered nurses
Registered practical nurses
Personal support workers
Registered dietitians
Family members and friends (care partners) of residents who have received palliative care in LTC homes
