Help us make memories matter by leading or joining an Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s committee
Do you want to make memories matter? Are you a mover and shaker who has a strong desire to make a change in your community? The Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s – Canada’s biggest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias – needs you!
The Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s is a fun and family-friendly way to create new memories while sending a message of hope to the over 747,000 Canadians – including 70,000 British Columbians – currently living with dementia, and those who care for them.
Walks take place in over 20 communities across B.C. on the first Sunday of May. Every Walk is organized by inspiring volunteer committees who live or work within the community. Each committee is headed by a passionate and committed chair that is responsible for leading the committee.
The Alzheimer Society of B.C. provides Walk chairs with in-depth training, resources and ongoing support, to ensure you have the best event experience possible. This ensures that each Walk is truly reflective of the individual committee, and also maintains cohesiveness across the province to show how we are all united to create a world without dementia.
Marg Rodgers, Kamloops Walk chair, says “The volunteer Walk Chair position has given me
a wonderful opportunity to work with a group of dedicated and committed volunteers in my community. There is no better feeling than sharing a common cause with a group volunteers. You can make a difference.”
We currently need enthusiastic, driven, community-minded people to chair the event in the following locations: Cowichan, Kelowna, Prince George, Tri-Cities, Vernon, Victoria and Nelson. There is also a need for additional committee members in various locations across the province.
