Caregiver experiences and impact of social cognition difficulties in persons living with dementia

What is this Study about?

We are looking to understand what social cognitive symptoms informal caregivers are seeing from their loved one in early dementia and how frequently they occur. Additionally, we want to understand the impact of these symptoms on caregivers' well-being. Information gathered from participants will be used to learn what knowledge caregivers have, their attitudes and beliefs with respect to dementia, and what social cognitive symptoms they are seeing from their loved one with dementia. We will then use this to develop educational resources tailored to informal caregivers and will survey them again to ensure the educational resources are relevant and helpful.

What Will Happen in This Study?

Participation in this study will have three components. The first is to complete a 30 minute survey asking about participants' knowledge, attitudes and beliefs related to dementia, and about their loved one's symptoms. The second will be to view our educational resources. The third will be to complete another survey similar to the first in order to determine the relevance and usefulness of the educational resources.

Who is Eligible to Participate in this Study?

You are eligible to participate if you...
1) Are 18 years or older
2) Are an informal caregiver to someone diagnosed with any form of dementia

3) Can speak English or French
