UBC professor of geriatric psychiatry teaches mindfulness and self-compassion in upcoming summer webinars

Learn to step out of frantic task completion into more genuine moments of living, and work towards building resilience on the dementia journey – all from the comfort of your living room!

This summer, geriatric psychiatrist and certified mindfulness meditation teacher Dr. Elisabeth Drance will be delivering two free webinars for care partners of people living with dementia. Both topics focus on reorienting our experiences and perceptions to make the most of each moment with ourselves and the people who are closest to us.

The first webinar, “Building caregiver resilience for the dementia journey: The gift of mindfulness,” is on Wednesday, July 15 at 2 p.m. This session will help lead participants away from old conditioned thoughts towards responding wisely, and consciously, to the situations that confront us. The second session, “Building caregiver resilience for the dementia journey: The skill of self-compassion,” focuses on bringing kindness to ourselves by working through the inevitable challenges and missteps faced when supporting someone with cognitive change.
