Dementia in the Arts
This page lists stories and perspectives Nova Scotians have shared through artistic works.
As more Nova Scotians become impacted by dementia, many are sharing their stories and perspectives through artistic works. Engaging in art can be a great way for people living with dementia and those who support them to express emotions, learn, and connect with others. From poetry and songs to films and blogs, we at the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia are regularly contacted by artists who wish to share their works with our dementia community. This page is dedicated to those works.
Works listed on this page have been reviewed by our staff to ensure the content is appropriate and meets basic eligibility requirements. While we appreciate all submissions, there may be instances where works cannot be listed.
We acknowledge that people have widely varying experiences of the dementia journey and may share opinions or use language that others do not agree with. The opinions and thoughts expressed by the artists/authors listed on this page reflect only the views of the artist/author.
The Alzheimer Society works to reduce the stigma around dementia and empower persons with dementia by championing the Canadian Charter of Rights for People with Dementia.
