About Alzheimer's Awareness Month
Every year 25,000 Canadians are diagnosed with dementia. Presently, 2650 Islanders are living this journey. 1 in 3 people will be affected or know someone affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Dementia, however, is more than just numbers. That’s why this January the Alzheimer Society of PEI is joining our colleagues across Canada continuing to build on a 3-year national awareness campaign to challenge public perceptions of what it means to live with dementia. We want to convert judgement into compassion and assumptions into understanding so that people with dementia feel support in our communities and our communities become dementia friendly!
We are honoured and thrilled to host our 8th Annual Alzheimer Awareness Conference on Thursday, January 23, 2020. This event is designed to provide meaningful learning opportunities for caregivers, individuals with dementia, health care professionals and the general public.
Join us to hear from:
- Person (s) with dementia,
- Family caregivers,
- Health care professionals and First Responders making a difference,
- Dementia Care Training graduates,
- Researchers bringing hope for the future and
- Youth from Georgetown School.
Here’s what a few of our past participants had to say:
"Even though I forget, what will stay with me are the feelings from today- happiness and comfort."
"One of the highlights of my year."
"Excellent conference. Left with so much hope for better quality of life for our residents."
"Thank you for an amazing day. I will bring this knowledge back to my workplace."
"This conference was so well planned and organized. The day just flew by and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks so much! Thanks for all the healthy nutrition!"
