The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's raises funds to help support the nearly 12,000 people in Durham Region who are living with dementia and their care partners. These funds help to provide programs and support including; support groups and counselling, social and recreation programs as well as education for the community. Here are some tips to help you solicit donations for the Walk.

Tell your story.

Inspire people to donate by telling your personal story about why you’re walking and what supporting ASDR means to you. If you haven't already, you can update your page and post pictures of your inspiration for walking.

Spread the word!

Let everyone know you’re walking and share the link to your page so they can donate directly to you.

  • Download our social media post here and be sure to include the link to your page in the message.
  • Send an email from the Participation Centre. There are templates ready for you to use. Add personal details about why you're walking and send to your contacts.

Or send an email on your own. You can copy your page link and any other details from our Walk page and send an email to your contacts.

Share with your family and friends why raising funds for ASDR matters.

Funds raised from the Walk help to support the nearly 12,000 people in Durham Region who are living with dementia and their care partners. ASDR uses these funds for support groups, education workshops, social and recreation programs and so much more. You can learn more about all we have to offer here.

Find creative ways to ask.

Involve your whole team and put creative minds to work! Handmade cards, baked goods and bracelets in exchange for donations are all great ways to involve all members of your family or team.

Follow Up!

People are busy and emails often get overlooked, so even if you’ve already asked - it’s okay to ask again! Send a reminder email or message on social media asking people to sponsor you.
