The Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District Board of Directors works with and supports staff to ensure program needs are met through decision-making and advocacy for the benefit of those living with dementia in our region.

In keeping with our strong commitment to representing all of Algoma’s communities, we welcome and encourage applications from those belonging to underserved and/or diverse populations. Any interested member of the public, 18 years and older, can apply. We are looking for four (4) candidates who are energetic and skilled in a variety of ways to add to an already strong team. This is a volunteer position.

Commitment:

  • Meet at least nine (9) times a year, the 4th Thursday of every month from September to June from 5 – 7 p.m. These meetings are held at the Alzheimer Society office located at 61 Great Northern Road, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. There is an option to join these meetings virtually if need be; therefore, access to a strong internet connection is important.
  • Sit on one or more committees of the Board.
  • Participate in various Alzheimer Society events during the year.
  • Serve at least a three-year (3) term. Renewable for another three (3) years.

Qualifications:

We are looking for individuals who have experience in some of the following areas to provide insight and guidance to the board.

  • Interest in and passion for dementia services
  • Represent an underserved and/or diverse population
  • Human Resources
  • Experience as a caregiver
  • Development of strategic plans

It is understood that the qualified person would not have an undischarged bankruptcy.
