Accreditation
Learn more about accreditation and why it is important to our clients, volunteers, staff, and board members.

In 2024, ASDR will be striving to achieve accredited status through the Canadian Centre for Accreditation (CCA).
What is Accreditation?
Accreditation is the assessment of health care and social services organizations against standards of excellence to identify what is being done well and what needs to be improved. It occurs on a 4-year cycle. This is the first time ASDR has attempted to achieve accreditation.
Why Accreditation?
There are many benefits to being an accredited organization, such as:
- Improved client outcomes and fostering a culture of quality and safety
- Identifying our strengths and opportunities within our programs
- Promoting communication and staff empowerment across the organization
- Reducing risks and liabilities
The Road to Accreditation
During the past 14 months, ASDR has engaged with CCA to assess our practices and worked diligently to update and improve our operational and service policies, as well as Board Governance policies. We have introduced a more thorough Risk Management Framework as well as a robust Quality Improvement and Operational Plan that allows us to identify key performance indicators and track their progress across the entire organization.
Most importantly, ASDR has worked with our staff and clients to improve our programs and services to maintain our commitment to delivering quality and value-based programs and services for our dedicated clients. One of our newly introduced policies includes our Program and Service Philosophy that had input from clients, volunteers, staff, and board members.
ASDR’s Program and Service Philosophy
ASDR believes that people affected by dementia have the right to enjoy the highest possible quality of life and quality of care. We believe that services should be tailored to the unique needs and interests of persons living with dementia and their care partners, regardless of the stage of the disease. You can read more about our new Program and Services Framework, along with our commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion on our website here.
As a client or stakeholder with ASDR, you may have the opportunity to participate in a short survey or interview as part of our accreditation process in the upcoming months, provided by CCA. We would appreciate your participation to help us understand the areas where we can continue to improve, and where we are doing a great job!
