One Permanent Full Time Position – 35 Hours per week
One Contract Position (Maternity Leave) – 35 Hours per week
Who You Are
You are a caring and compassionate person who is dedicated to putting the educational needs of the person living with dementia, their care partner, and the community at the centre of everything you do. You are an excellent communicator who actively listens and collaborates with others. You understand the importance of behaving ethically, creating boundaries, and providing support in a manner that is suited to all stakeholders
What you will be doing:
- Identify education and awareness needs within the catchment area, including internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and provide education sessions on general and specific issues related to Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias for individuals, community agencies, Long Term Care/Retirement Homes and various other groups as requested
- Initiate and maintain partnerships with educational institutions and other relevant organizations in the development and implementation of care related skills, development for care partners, support groups, professionals, and agency volunteers
- Build strong internal and external relationships with clients, staff, volunteers, donors and community stakeholders
- Maintain confidential, accurate client documentation records
What you bring to the table:
- Diploma or degree in health care, social services, gerontology, public relations and communications, education, or other related discipline
- Experience working directly with people living with dementia and their care partners
- Previous experience with a community-based agency or not for profit organization
- Willingness to participate in professional development and work actively with team members
- Previous experience in the development and delivery of educational programs
- Ability to travel within our four counties
