Join the revolution to end Alzheimer’s disease

Families across British Columbia are affected by Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias. Our ultimate vision at the Alzheimer Society of B.C. is a world without dementia; that vision begins with a world where people living with the disease are welcomed, acknowledged and included. To help bring us one step closer to our vision, we are thrilled to announce we are the first Canadian charity to partner with Rivet Revolution to create a special Forget Me Not band.

Rivet Revolution is a passion project of three women in the second acts of their careers. Co-founders Liz Gindraux, Carol Palmer and Susan Evans each have a personal connection to someone living with dementia, making them passionate about using their experiences in a productive and positive way. “Liz, Carol and I started Rivet Revolution in the summer of 2016 with three goals: to fund research and support, to empower networks of families and friends who are affected by this disease, and to have a blast while doing so,” says Susan.

Rivet Revolution currently partners with many different initiatives that fund research and support for people affected by dementia, including the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement, founded by Maria Shriver. The Alzheimer Society of B.C. connected with Ms. Shriver earlier this year, when she was the keynote speaker at a private fundraising event in Vancouver. At the event, which was organized by Leah O’Neill, a long-time supporter of the Society, guests received Rivet Revolution bands —and this inspired us to work with Rivet Revolution to create our own custom band.

The Forget Me Not stretch band features lapis lazuli gemstone beads and our signature Forget Me Not emblem on a custom charm. Each band is truly unique due to subtle variations in colour, texture and size of the gemstones. The bands retails for $38 USD, and $10 USD from each band sold will be donated to the Alzheimer Society of B.C. Funds raised will benefit programs and services for British Columbians facing dementia, as well as enabling research into the causes of and cure for the disease.

Rivet Revolution is kicking off this partnership with a generous November offer! Buy any three bands for US$100 – a savings of $14 – and a classic Rivet Revolution band will be added to your virtual shopping cart free of charge (you will see a “Spread the Revolution” item in your cart, which is the free band). This means you will receive four bands for US$100! Please note that you cannot choose the style of the free band and there is a shipping fee of US$8 for all Canadian orders.

This offer is a great opportunity to gift bands to people in your life who have been affected by dementia. By wearing a band you will spark conversations about the disease and reduce stigma. You can purchase by visiting
