Education
We offer a variety of educational sessions for the community, health-care professionals and organizations that will allow people to learn more about Alzheimer's disease and related Dementia including health prevention, warning signs and risk factors.
Presentations for Community Groups
If your group is interested in a presentation, there are many topics to choose from. Also, each presentation can be changed to suit the age and interest of your group. Some of the areas we cover include a general overview of Alzheimer's Disease and related dementia effective communication strategies, caregiver coping and brain health.
Sessions for Professionals
We offer sessions and informational services for professionals working in the health care setting and community agencies that care for people with dementia. Please contact us if you are interested in developing your skills, knowledge base and problem-solving strategies.
U-First! Training; 6-hour workshop will train healthcare providers in U-First!, a proven and effective approach to working with clients with dementia. Through dialogue and a case-based approach, learners will have more confidence in working with people with responsive behaviours.
The Dementia Experience
The Dementia Experience provides an interactive and hands-on experience that allows participants to appreciate what it feels like to walk in the shoes of someone affected by dementia.

The staff at the Alzheimer Society Kenora/Rainy River Districts has the opportunity to hold education sessions with the OPP and Treaty Three Police about understanding Alzheimer's disease and related Dementia and the Finding Your Way© program. The Finding Your Way© program helps people living with dementia, their families, caregivers and communities to recognize the risk of people that wander and go missing. This ensures people with dementia can live safely in the community. Weekly Education sessions held for the OPP and Treaty Three from the region began in January 2019 and will continue to take place up to July 2019.
