POSITION TITLE: Executive Director
ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer Society- Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland & Haliburton
SALARY: To be discussed and negotiated based on experience STATUS: One permanent position, 35 hours per week (flexibility required) LOCATION: Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
OPENING DATE: March 15, 2021
CLOSING DATE: April 2, 2021
The Executive Director is responsible for working in close collaboration with the Board of Directors, providing leadership to staff and volunteers while providing various programs and services, and supervising the day-to-day administration of the Society. Including but limited to:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
- Ensuring effective and efficient day-to-day operations of the Society.
- Maintaining accountability for the delivery of client focused support and education services.
- Mentoring, managing and leading a team of approximately 22 staff members and 34 active volunteers.
- Ensuring the financial well-being of the Society.
- Collaborating with the Board of Directors to ensure effective operations of the Society, implementing the Vision of the Board and ensuring governance/operations responsibilities are respected.
- Maintaining overall accountability for the Society’s external communications and public relations.
- Performing other related duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in health services, social services or related discipline, or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
- A minimum of five (5) years related experience in a not-for-profit organization.
- Experience in a management capacity with a focus on accountability, compassionate leadership and mentorship.
- Previous knowledge of governance practices and experience working closely with a volunteer Board of Directors.
- Ability to represent the Society in dealing with all levels of government (including OHT/MOHLTC), community stakeholders, ASO/other Alzheimer organizations and corporations.
PREFFERED CANDIDATE KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Excellent organization, planning and time management skills, including handling multiple, concurrent issues and tasks.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, written and listening communication skills.
- Strong negotiation, persuasion and influencing skills.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and implementation processes.
- Knowledge of community social services, health and service organizations.
- Familiarity with the Ontario Health Teams and/or former Local Health Integration Network structure is an asset.
- Computer literacy, with thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and SAGE Accounting Software.
