Client Advisory Committee

Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland, and Haliburton

Advisory Board

The Alzheimer Society of Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland, and Haliburton needs seniors, especially those living with dementia and their care partners, to be the guiding voices behind the “Dementia Friendly Communities” initiative. By sharing your perspective, lived experience, and valuable insight, you can create change! Your local retailers, community service providers, and even the folks you meet in your neighborhood want to make positive changes to better support people living with dementia. Your input can not only help to improve your personal experience when out shopping and accessing services, but also the experiences of other seniors just like you who are living with dementia.

You can share your voice by joining the Client Advisory Committee.

The Client Advisory Committee will:

• Identify businesses, community centres, and seniors’ groups that would most benefit from Dementia Friendly Communities training in each county that we serve.

• Reach out to these organizations to schedule training.

• Participate in the facilitation of the training through peer-to-peer mentorship.

The Client Advisory Committee will be comprised of people living with dementia and their care partners representing each of the four counties we serve (Peterborough, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland, and Haliburton).

Commitment:

As a member of the Client Advisory Committee, you would be signing on to help guide and roll out the Dementia Friendly Communities initiative through the duration of the New Horizons Grant timeline which culminates March 31st, 2023.

Over the next 9 months, you will be:

• engaged in monthly virtual check-in meetings with the committee members and facilitated by an Alzheimer Society Education Coordinator

• reaching out to retailers and service providers in your neighbourhood as champions of the DFC initiative and recruiters for the DFC training

• joining in training sessions where appropriate.
