Finding Your Way

Six out of ten people living with dementia will go missing at some point.  Join us to learn ways to reduce the risk of going missing.

 

Ambiguous Loss & Grief in Dementia

 

Ambiguous Loss & Grief in Dementia is a workshop for families and friends of a person living with dementia designed to help you work through the many losses experienced along the dementia journey, long before death occurs.

 

Driving and Dementia

 

Learn to recognize driving ability, warning signs and how to support a person with dementia when they can no longer drive safely.

 

Navigating Long-term Care

Join staff from the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network to learn about the application process for Long-term Care.

 

Palliative Approach to Dementia Care

In partnership with the North Simcoe Muskoka Hospice Palliative Care Network, the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County is offering Palliative Approach to Dementia Care.  This is a four hour course (one hour break) designed for family, volunteers and professional staff to find ways of using a person's strengths to bring comfort and joy to their life while living with dementia and not just at end of life.

 

Virtual Care for Carers

 

In partnership with Catholic Family Services Simcoe County, the Alzheimer Society of Simcoe County is offering Virtual Care for Carers.  This is a workshop series especially designed for care partners who are feeling increased stress and anxiety in their role due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Four pre-recorded workshops will be made available to registrants to access online and watch at their convenience:

  • Caregiver burnout
  • The power of emotion
  • Mindful self-compassion
  • Self-care

There will be two live session for participants to come together to share thoughts and ask questions.
