Memorial donations to Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington are a significant way to pay tribute to a relative, friend or colleague who has passed away. You are honouring a special life by helping us improve the lives of those facing the challenges of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. When donating, enter their information in the "Dedicate your donation" box. Once you have completed the donation, you will be able to select to send an e-card or mailed card.

Why Create an Estate Plan?* 

Everyone has an estate. It can have a large value or a small value but everyone has the right to direct how their estate is managed or disbursed. Creating an estate plan and making a will is an important legal document. It provides: 

• Peace of mind: Knowing your affairs are in order provides peace of mind for you and your family. 
• Asset Distribution: A plan ensures that your assets are distributed according to your wishes, minimizing potential conflicts among beneficiaries. 
• Protection for Loved Ones: An estate plan can provide for your loved ones - including spouses, children, and dependents - even after you’re no longer there. 
• Tax Efficiency: Estate taxes are a reality. Strategies such as making a bequest can minimize estate taxes and preserve more of your wealth for your beneficiaries. A bequest to a registered charity also matters because it provides long-term funding for charitable causes that you support. Estate plans that include charitable bequests help donors create a meaningful legacy while ensuring financial efficiency for their favourite charities.

A donation of securities can help reduce capital gains tax. This means your donation goes further—and helps more people. 

Donating securities (stocks, mutual funds, or employee stock options) is a straightforward process. Just follow these steps: 

• Download the Securities Transfer Form (link below)
• Fill it out with the details of your donation
• Email completed form: Work with Your Financial Advisor or Broker for financial advice. Share the completed form with your financial advisor or broker, and they will handle the transfer on your behalf. Email a copy of the completed form here.
• Receive Your Tax Receipt: Once the securities have been transferred, you will receive a charitable tax receipt for the fair market value of the securities at the time of the transfer. Please note that market conditions change and the amount of your tax receipt will be for the fair market value on the day the transaction is completed. 

Does your workplace have a corporate giving program? Do they provide matching gifts to employee contributions? Can you run a workplace appeal? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you may be able to designate your pledge to Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington through your company's giving program. The Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington (ASWW) is partnered with Donate a Car Canada who accepts vehicle donations on our behalf. Donate a Car Canada provides free towing in many areas across our region, or you can drop off your vehicle to maximize your donation. When you donate your RV, Boat, Motorcycle or other vehicle to ASWW through Donate a Car Canada, it will either be recycled or sold at auction depending on its condition, age and location.
