One of our First Link Coordinators, Arianna recently shared some of the feedback she has been receiving from clients about the importance of Alzheimer Society services during COVID.
“Over the past few months, I have received a lot of feedback from individuals that I am touching base with about how without having someone to talk to at the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan and get information and support from staff at the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, that many clients would have been overwhelmed and lost.
Many comments have been made about how with everything going on with the current pandemic that it is even more overwhelming so to be able to contact the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan and get access to continued follow up calls, support and information, it has been very helpful and beneficial.
Also, I facilitate our caregiver support group that is open to the province right now, and each month each participant who attends the group has stated how important the virtual programming is to them and without talking to others who are going through what they are going through, they would be rather lonely and isolated.
It is not hard to see how important the virtual support groups are to our clients so they can have some kind of contact with people that they have grown very close to as they attended the group in person and really bonded and formed friendships. Now, with the virtual support groups, they are able to maintain those bonds and friendships. “
