Research Gives Hope

Saskatchewan

Jim and Lisa Yuel are two of the key holders helping us unlock dementia research. In addition to donating funds to unlock important research, they share why they are committed to supporting people living with dementia and their care partners.

We are Jim and Lisa Yuel and we live in Saskatoon.

In today’s world, there are so many people touched by Alzheimer’s disease. These days, it’s impossible to be out in society and not encounter it.

My (Lisa’s) grandmother had dementia. To watch her know that she had dementia, well, it hurt. It hurt to watch this woman that was so vibrant become not as vibrant.

In our experience, dementia is particularly difficult for the family members, friends, and other people surrounding the individual.

Whether you're personally impacted or whether you're impacted through friends or the community, dementia impacts everyone.

The more support and research we can do, the better it is for the entire community.

Recently, there have pretty significant strides made in dementia research in isolating various parts of the brain that are impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and dietary issues that contribute to it.

They’re reaching a point where they can slow the progression down or stall it, or stop it completely from continuing, which would be a tremendous advance.

The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan is a very worthwhile cause and something that you should contribute to. The more support, the more research we can do.

When we all have hope it just helps us move one more step forward.

Jim and Lisa Yuel have contributed $250,000 towards unlocking dementia research.
