What is Nordic Walking?
Having originated in Finland, Nordic walking is a low impact exercise that involves the use of special walking poles.
Similarly to cross-country skiing, a person uses the poles behind them as an extension of their arm to match their foot stride.

The use of these poles helps activate upper-body muscles for a full-body workout. The poles are held in front of your body to improve balance.

Summer 2025: Location, Date & Times

  • Thursday, June 26 at McAuliffe Park (2391 St Alphonse St., Tecumseh)
  • Thursday, July 24 at Malden Park (4200 Malden Rd., Windsor)
  • Thursday, August 28 at Willistead Park (2107 Niagara St., Windsor)

All walks start at 10 AM and will be approximately 30-45 minutes and will take place light rain or shine.

Nordic walking is gentle on joints, making it ideal for those with arthritis or joint pain. The use of special walking poles helps redistribute weight and reduces joint loading, minimizing discomfort compared to high-impact activities.

In an effort to be considerate of our surrounding environment, we ask you to please bring your own water bottle.
