For Health Care Professionals GPA - Gentle Persuasive Approach
Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care, is an innovative education curriculum that is currently being offere to care organizations throughout Ontario.
Many front line staff in health care have little or no training in the management of challenging behaviour associated with dementia. Staff consistently report feeling vulnerable and at risk of injury if they have not been trained in respectful, non-violent, self-protection techniques. The GPA curriculum addresses these needs and is designed for delivery to inter-diciplinary groups from all settings including; health care aides, dietary aides, and housekeeping staff.
The overall goal of the GPA curriculum is to educate staff on how to use person-centred, compassionate and gentle persuasive approach and to respond respectfully, with confidence and skill to challenging behaviours associated with dementia.
We have 3 certified coaches on staff to offer this program in Lanark Leeds Grenville.
