Lighting NB in Blue

New Brunswick

January is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in Canada. This year, the Alzheimer Society of NB is lighting the province up in blue to spread dementia awareness.

Every January, Alzheimer Societies across Canada raise awareness around key issues in the dementia journey, including diagnosis, stigma, caregiving and support. Awareness of the condition is the first step to fighting stigma, reinforcing human rights and pushing for policy change, as well as other actions that can lift up people living with dementia.

With over 12,000 New Brunswickers living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia, awareness, support services and programs are so important.

That’s why New Brunswickers are invited to Light it Up in Blue and shine a light on the dark shadow of dementia throughout the month of January. Municipal buildings, businesses, landmarks, and homes will all be lit in blue lights to spread awareness.

You can help!

Getting involved is easy!

  • Simply replace a regular lightbulb with a blue one, or you can hang a string of blue lights to show your support for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
  • Spread your impact even further by sharing a picture of your building on social media or use the sample posts and graphics included in our community toolkit. Click here to access the toolkit.
