Thank you for supporting York Region residents impacted by dementia. By hosting an event, participating in an Alzheimer Society of York Region's event, raising awareness or donating, you are ensure programs and services are available to those who need them.

There are many ways to help York Region residents impacted by dementia. Host a fundraiser (Social with a Purpose), create a team or sign up individually for the Walk for Alzheimer's or volunteer your time. Contact Carol Dowell, events coordinator:

Be a fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society of York Region on your time on your terms!

The Alzheimer Society of York Region relies on people like you to help us support people living with dementia, and generate new knowledge about this fatal disease.

Here are some ways that you can help us generate even more funds for our mission.

  • Encourage people to donate to AS York instead of bringing a hostess gift
  • Ask your company to support AS York and York Region residents impacted by dementia over the holidays
  • Ask about employee matching programs
  • Host a bake sale, smoothie bar or hot chocolate station
  • Have a garage sale or car in support of AS York

Alzheimer Society of York Region annual events

The Alzheimer Society of York Region hosts an number of events each year. People can support them by purchasing a sponsorship; sharing the information with friends or family; volunteering; and attending the event.

The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's

The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's took place virtual May 29. This year, walkers accepted the #AlzStepChallenge, walking 17,000 steps - one step for each person living in York Region living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

This year, more than $110,000 was raised to support programs and services. Thank you for your support. We are grateful.

Forget-Me-Not Breakfast

Each spring, AS York hosts a breakfast featuring a dementia expert. The 2021 walk featured Dr. Sharon Cohen from the Toronto Memory Program. Click here to watch the recording.

Golf 2 Remember

The annual tournament, created by Tara Morse, Betsy Sumner and Jane Simard, is cancelled again this year due to COVID-19. However, you can still enjoy a round a golf while raising funds for York Region residents impacted by dementia.

Emergency Care Response Fund

The Emergency Care Response Fund was created in the early stages of COVID-19 as a way to help York Region residents impacted by dementia in crisis. It's an ongoing fund to help our most vulnerable residents. Learn more.
