Every year in November, we recognize and celebrate the immense impact of philanthropic efforts around the world. It is a day to honor the individuals, businesses, and organizations that dedicate their time, talents, and resources to make the world a better place. Their big selfless acts, because we believe no act is small, contribute to the betterment of society and inspire others to do the same.

At the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories, we recognize that philanthropy is not just about monetary donations. From our volunteers who facilitate our support groups, our sponsors who fund our research programs, to our donors. Every act of kindness contributes to a larger cause and serves as a reminder that every individual has the power to make a difference and we say thank you.

This year, on National Philanthropy Day, we would like to recognize and extend our heartfelt gratitude to two friends who have been exemplary in their giving spirit.

Introducing Our Heroes

Grand Chapter of Alberta, Order of the Eastern Star Foundation: The Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories is deeply grateful for the unwavering support shown to us since 2013. With over $466,000 donated by the Order of the Eastern Star through casinos and various fundraisers, they have been instrumental in aiding programs for those living with dementia and their caregivers. Thanks to their generosity, thousands in urban, rural, and remote areas have benefited from in-person and virtual programs. Their impact resonates throughout the province and beyond.

New Horizon Co-operative Ltd: For half a decade, they have been a pillar of support for the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories. Their commitment shines through their Coin Box donation program, BBQ fundraisers, enthusiastic participation in the Alzheimer’s Walk program, and hands-on Staff volunteering. Now with the Coin Box program in 14 northern Alberta spots, Co-op’s board sees and responds to the growing need for Alzheimer’s care and cure. But it is not just about funds; they bring a heartfelt connection to the cause.

The Ripple Effect of Giving

The efforts of these co-operations, along with your efforts and that of countless other individuals and organizations, create a ripple effect. These acts of kindness inspire others to contribute in their unique ways, creating a cycle of giving that benefits everyone involved.
