- Feel overwhelmed in caring for others?
- Experience insomnia, worry, or anxiety?
- Have trouble dealing with your feelings?
- Find it hard to find time to take care of yourself?
- Have trouble asking for help and following through on it?
If this is happening to you, please consider the Self-Care for the Caregiver program as a way to get support.
What is the curriculum?
All caregivers are welcome! Self-Care for the Caregiver provides a gently guided practical program of self-discovery and personal growth for caregivers of people living with dementia or other chronic physical and mental health concerns.
Facilitated by Denise Verreault, Director of Programs & Services, this program brings together caregivers to learn about:
- The value of honest self-examination,
- How to quiet your mind, and,
- How to nurture your inner self.
Why should I join this program?
As you discover how to tap into your inner resources, you can begin to help yourself in all life circumstances, regardless of how diverse and challenging they may be.
By meeting weekly with people who share similar concerns, caregivers become part of a healing community, rather than isolating themselves and trying to deal with their problems alone.
As well as group sessions and curriculum, participants use the Life Process Transformation (LPT) Workbook to follow up on awareness exercises at home.
The program runs for a total of sixteen (16) weeks, three (3) hours per week.
"Being in this group is the first time that I have felt the support and deep understanding of an extended family." ~Past participant of the Self-Care for the Caregiver program
What is the cost?
Sessions are free! The required workbook is $55 + HST. There is also respite available for this program for those who qualify.
Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., starting January 27, 2021 and running 16 weeks until May 12, 2021. *FULL*
