Share Your Story
We have lots of different opportunities to suit many different interests, including:
Programs and Services:
Help us provide support, education and information to the thousands of Nova Scotians living with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias.
Profile Stories: Do you have tips or successful strategies of providing care that you would like to share with other families? We would like to include a caregivers perspective in our quarterly In the loop newsletter. We really value the practice advice that others understand the disease and try strategies that may help.
You can submit a short piece- 400 words or less or we can interview you and write the article.
Education: Part of our role here is to educate the public about the disease. Putting a human face on the disease and sharing a small part of their story can be very powerful in helping others to connect with our messages. We are looking for family photographs and/or short stories that can be put into our PowerPoint presentations and used as part of the over all teaching tool. Names can be changed if desired.
Help us raise funds ! The Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia receives no government funding, so we rely on the generosity of the public to help fund our program and service delivery and critical research.
Festive Season: We are looking to interview a caregiver, who is willing to share their story with potential Christmas donors.
January Campaign: Are you a Caregiver who has received great help from the Society, through any one of our various Programs and Services? We would like to share your experience with potential donors.
Help us share the story of the Alzheimer Society ! We regularly receive requests from the media, who are looking for caregivers or those living with the disease to share their experience.
Media Interviews: Interested in sharing your experience with a provincial or national audience ? Media interviews could be done by radio, television, newspaper or magazine outlets. If you are more comfortable with one form over another, not a problem at all - just let us know !
Awareness Month: January is Alzheimer Awareness Month in Canada. We are looking for volunteers to give this national month a Nova Scotian flavour. This might include a profile story, being quoted in our press release, or promotional materials being sent out.
General Awareness: The Alzheimer Society is here to help, and we want everyone to know about the valuable programs and services we offer. Throughout the year we look for volunteers who are willing to appear in ads (print or radio), or in videos
Writing: Give your perspective! We welcome submissions from volunteers for our newsletter, annual reports or website.
