Ride for Dementia

Members of the Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers (CMC) social riding club will hold their third annual Ride for Dementia.

Ride for Dementia

On Saturday, September 20th, Ride for Dementia returns for its 3rd annual event where Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers (CMC) will be riding throughout Ontario, passing and stopping by long-term care and assisted living facilities showing support to residents living with dementia, their care partners, staff, and families.

Since beginning in 2023, the Ride for Dementia has raised over $30,000 in support of the Alzheimer Society. This upcoming Fall, the CMC will be riding once again with an ambitious fundraising goal of $10,000 in support of World Alzheimer’s Month. All donations directly support research, awareness, and programs provided by the Alzheimer Society.

Ride for Dementia

According to the most recent data available from Government of Canada, more than 402,000 seniors (65 years and older) are living with dementia in Canada (excluding Saskatchewan). Each year there are 76,000 new cases of dementia diagnosed in Canada representing an incidence of 14.3 new cases per 1,000 in the senior population.

More than 50 riders take part in the event each year with a total of over 1,428km distance travelled and 33 long-term care homes visited the past two rides. If you'd like to donate, please visit the Ride for Dementia fundraising page, where you can give directly to a CMC team or rider. Your support helps remind families that they are not alone — and funds vital programs that people living with dementia rely on every day.
