Imagine Canada Standards Program

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. is one of over 200 charitable organizations across the country that have been accredited under Imagine Canada’s Standards Program. We are proud of this accreditation, which we have held since 2017.

The Standards Program is a Canada-wide set of shared standards for charities and non-profit organizations that demonstrate compliance in five fundamental areas: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement.

The goals of the Program are to increase organizational transparency in these areas and to strengthen public confidence in individual organizations and the sector as a whole.

The accreditation is a rigorous, peer-reviewed process meant to build public trust and confidence in the charitable sector. Under the Imagine Canada’s Standards Program organizations are required to provide evidence that they are meeting selected standards on a yearly basis and will need to reapply for accreditation every five years. The accreditation reflects a level of professionalism and ethical behavior on the part of the Alzheimer Society of B.C.
