Dementia-friendly research session

The Alzheimer Society of B.C. seeks to change the conversation, the experience and the future of people living with dementia and the people who support them by championing dementia-friendly research, investing in innovative research, acting as a knowledge source and fostering relationships with researchers and the community.

Through collaborative efforts, our knowledge mobilization activities ensure that dementia research and information is accessible, understandable and useful for people affected by dementia, health-care providers, policy makers and more. We partner with researchers and organizations to support and advise on effective and respectful dementia research. These relationships ultimately allow us to better support people on the journey as we collaborate with researchers to improve our own programs, services and resources.

In addition, we provide funding for researchers so they can conduct and mobilize research to improve the care and quality of life for people affected by dementia and investigate effective prevention, diagnostics, treatments and supports at all stages of the dementia journey. We want people with lived experience of dementia to know about the abundant opportunities to engage in research – not just as research participants but also as advisors, consultants and partners.
