Dementia education events are coming to the Yukon in January, designed to promote brain health and raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Dementia and communication

Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Whitehorse Public Library

Key topics include:

  • How different types of dementia affects communication and behaviour.
  • Practical strategies for adapting to changes caused by dementia.
  • Ways to cope with communication and behaviour challenges at every stage of the journey.
  • For caregivers.

Dementia conversations

Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Location: Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre

Key topics include:

  • Learn about dementia and the supports and services available through the Alzheimer Society of B.C. 
  • Share and provide insight about your experience and the strengths and needs of where you live. 
  • For general public.
