New funding opportunity will boost Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s research in B.C.
A new initiative to advance research on Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases is being launched by a group of partners including the Alzheimer Society of B.C.
This funding opportunity supports B.C.-based teams advancing research on Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s diseases and other neurological disorders with shared mechanisms.
The funding opportunity emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, knowledge exchange and building research networks across B.C. Proposals may focus on either advancing understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, developing improved diagnosis and care strategies, or exploring shared mechanisms across neurodegenerative diseases.
Additional top-up funding of $10,000 is available to support embedding people with lived experience in research, ensuring research reflects the perspectives of the people most affected.
Applications open January 5, 2026. For more information, visit Michael Smith Health Research BC's funding program page.
