I walk through my house

       A place I’ve known twenty-five years

And wonder how I got

       Here….

 

Pictures on the walls,

       Evidence of professional success,

       Athletic conquests,

       Yearly school portraits 

       Family vacations and,

      Of course,

      The dog….

Chronicle a life well lived

A life that a doofus like me 

      Hasn’t deserved…

A life that sometimes feels like 

      Somebody else’s…

But is has been very definitely

      Mine

And it makes me 

      Happy..

 

A favourite photo, 

     Penny flying a kite with Zoe….

Nearly brings me to joyous tears.

I remember that day

But wonder how 

It was so long ago,

     When 

     It was only 

     Yesterday…….

 

How did I get here?

Even on the

 Imperfect

Unpredictable ride

Life is….

I got here with a smile 

 

      After twenty-five years of yesterdays,

      Walking through my house, 

      I still can’t wait 

     To see

Tomorrow.
