We have a new name!
As of February 2026, we are the Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon! Learn more about what this means.
Why are we changing our name?
In 2023, we accepted a contract with the Government of Yukon to pilot our First Link® Dementia Helpline in the territory to support Yukoners who are affected by dementia. As we continue to grow our services for Yukoners, we have taken to heart that our name needs to better reflect who we are, what we do and who we serve in order to build the trust that will help people connect with us and access the resources and information that can help them.
Does this change your service offerings in BC?
No. We remain committed to ensuring that no one in BC has to face dementia alone, regardless of where they live. The change in our name reflects the need to expand our services in the Yukon, including hiring staff to support Yukoners in person, which we know is vital for many people.
Who should I make my cheque payable to?
During the transition, cheques made out to either Alzheimer Society of B.C. or Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon will be accepted. Going forward, please make cheques payable to Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon. All charitable tax receipts issued going forward will use our new name, Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon. Our registered charity number remains unchanged.
During this transition, you may see both Alzheimer Society of B.C. and Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon in use but they refer to the same trusted organization.
What name will appear on contracts and agreements?
All new contracts and agreements will be issued under Alzheimer Society of BC and Yukon. Existing agreements remain valid.
If you or someone you know has questions about dementia or needs support, please connect with the First Link® Dementia Helpline – no matter where you live in BC or in the Yukon.
