Vancouver Coastal U-First!® trainings

U-First!® is an innovative and unique training program, based on the PIECES framework, that helps frontline staff to develop a common knowledge base, language, values and approach to caring for people living with dementia and other cognitive impairment.

Below are the U-First!® trainings available for Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. Click the link to go to the registration page for that specific training. Please only register for one training.

FREE ($80 fee covered through a B.C. Ministry of Health grant.) All training sessions are interactive and everyone is expected to be actively engaged throughout the session to share with and learn from each other.

U-First!® online workshops

Online via Zoom; seven hours including breaks. 

  • Thursday, October 2, 2025, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Thursday, October 9, 2025, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 4, 2025, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Thursday, November 20, 2025, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 26, 2025, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, December 3, 2025, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

U-First!® 3-week e-learning course

Learn at your own pace through our blended learning format with engaging online modules, interactive discussion forums and one-hour Zoom webinar.

Online via the Alzheimer Society of B.C.'s online learning platform over a three-week period, with weekly requirements (averaging two hours per week) and a mandatory one-hour Zoom webinar.

    Required one-hour live Zoom webinar, choice of either 10 a.m. or 7 p.m. PT on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
  • Monday, November 17, 2025 to Sunday, December 7, 2025
    Required one-hour live Zoom webinar, choice of either 10 a.m. or 7 p.m. PT on Thursday, December 4, 2025
