This March, people from around the province joined us for a Breakfast to Remember fundraiser like none other, featuring keynote speaker Col. Chris Hadfield, to help raise funds to provide support for people affected by dementia. The 2021 fundraiser included two live virtual events: a breakfast program featuring a keynote talk and Q&A with Chris Hadfield on March 4, and an exclusive research event on March 10, featuring a discussion with dementia researcher Dr. Alexandre Henri-Bhargava. Thank you to all our volunteers, sponsors, donors and guests who made the fundraiser such a success.

Both events offered insight and inspiration from two incredible innovators. “I share your hope and your belief that we can all be change makers,” said Hadfield, who looked back on his path to becoming a celebrated astronaut, and forward to the shared challenges ahead.

Among others who spoke alongside Col. Chris Hadfield was Paul Blanchet, a caregiver to his wife Linda who lives with young onset Alzheimer’s disease, Lynn Jackson, a member of the Society’s Leadership Group of People Living with Dementia and emcee Dawna Friesen, anchor of Global National, who also shared her personal connection to dementia.

We are grateful for all speakers and supporters who furthered the conversation about dementia and helped us in our work to change the future of the disease.
