Below, you'll find information about in-person programs and support services available to people in Central Interior who are living with dementia or caring for someone who is.

Education 

Our in-person education programs empower people living with dementia, along with their families and friends, through knowledge and support. Unless otherwise noted, location details are provided upon registration. You can also learn more about our dementia education.

June 2026

Understanding dementia, communication and behaviour changes  | An education workshop for family members who are caring for a person living with dementia that covers understanding dementia, communication and behaviour changes. For caregivers.
Logan Lake: Friday, June 12 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Understanding responsive behaviors  | It can be frustrating and upsetting when someone living with dementia is behaving in an unexpected way; their words and gestures are often a response to something important in their environment. Explore responsive behaviours, what causes them, your own reactions and strategies for maintaining well-being. For caregivers.
Kamloops: Wednesday, June 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Coffee and Chat

We offer a social program to help caregivers and people living with dementia meet new people, engage in social activities and have fun. Learn more about the program.

Minds in Motion® 

Discover our in-person fitness and social program tailored for people with early-stage dementia to attend with a care partner, promoting wellness and connection. Learn more about the program.

Kamloops: John Tod YMCA, 150 Wood Street (Wait listed)
Nine Tuesdays, May 5 - June 30 from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Cost: $49.50 per pair for nine sessions.
Eight Tuesdays, September 8 - October 27 from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Cost: $44 per pair for eight sessions

Support Groups 

Dementia can leave people affected by dementia feeling isolated, but you don’t have to face it alone! Join our in-person support groups and connect with a community that understands you. Below are all support groups in your area. Learn more about our support groups.

Central Interior in-person caregiver support group
Open to anyone in the Central who is currently caring for a person living with dementia. Our family caregiver support groups offer a safe place to learn about dementia and community resources. Connect with other family members on the dementia journey.

Kamloops: 1st Thursday of the month, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Kamloops: 1st Thursday of the month, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Kamloops: 2nd Tuesday of the month, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Merritt: 3rd Thursday of the month, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m
Williams Lake: 4th Thursday of the month, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
